For fans of the highly uunderground series "Streeetz!" this is the long awaited full length documentary movie! "Streeetz! The Uncencored F---Youmentary" is a tongue in cheek anti-capitalist documentary made in Austin, TX about music in a failing economy.

The "Streeetz!" movie and series both feature starving artists, homeless youth, street performers and crossdressers, panhandlers, convicted felons, users, pessimists and idealists! Each is interviewed on issues like socialism, anarchism, transient living, trainhopping, minimalism, alcoholism, recreational drug use or "squatting," living off the grid. Some are even featured performing everyday off the grid activities that most people would never get to see in their normal everyday lives! For various reasons, each felt that they had chosen the best lifestyle available to them.

"Streeetz!" is produced by DJ TRoLL, who has a useless "liberal arts" degree in broadcast journalism (B.A.) which she earned on full paid scholarship at an under par college southwest of New Orleans. She is also a freelance rock music journalist and promoter. She has green dredlocks, listens to the Misfits and claims she does not care what any of you people think.

She said, "I used to interview big label bands sometimes. I prefer the underground. The musicians and fans in Austin were as underground as I had ever seen. I had to get the whole story. These were real runaways of society with bandannas tied on their necks. I would describe the whole movie as, 'What if Little Orphan Annie or Tom and Huck all ran away hit the tracks with their dogs and guitars and then five years later they met Charles Bukowski on the street? I think that's where this story BEGINS...'"

THE SOLOMON ISLANDS, PART 2 - Ric and Lincoln O'Barry's mission to the Solomon Islands continues and is fully launched on two fronts. First, they must confirm the true intentions of dolphin dealer-turned apparent reformer, Chris Porter. Secondly, they make inroads with the indigenous people still involved in dolphin hunting. The summit meeting between Ric and Porter is a tense affair complete with accusations and recriminations, but there are no conclusive results. In the end, Porter breaks down during a confrontation with one of the team members. He has dolphins to free, and he wants Ric to help him. On the other front, Ric's delicate negotiations with the dolphin hunting villages are nearly derailed when a letter signed by several chiefs and parliament members is made public. The letter contains a clear warning that Ric, Lincoln and their entire team should stay away from the island of Malaita. Soon, however, Ric and Lincoln are told the letter is a hoax. They proceed to the island and finally enter into an agreement with one of the villages to stop hunting dolphins. It is a rare, tangible victory in the fight to save dolphins.

What defines a parent? Is it the amount of intellectual maturity displayed or the level of love given? Such is the question posed in I Am Sam.

In the film, Sam Dawson (Sean Penn) is a mentally challenged single father raising his daughter Lucy (Dakota Fanning). Sam is a sweet, good-natured man who earns a living by sweeping up at a local coffee store. His mental capacity is that of a seven-year-old, and as his daughter turns seven, she begins to intellectually outgrow her father. Soon, their lives come under the scrutiny of a social worker, who, “for the good of the child,” wants Lucy placed into foster care.

Faced with a nearly impossible-to-win case, Sam decides to fight the legal system by finding a good attorney. Sam has learned from television that all the best attorney have four names, so with the help of his equally mentally disabled friends, they use a phone book to find a long-named, high-powered lawyer (Michelle Pfeiffer) who ends up taking Sam’s case at no charge on a dare. Together, they struggle to convince the system that Sam deserves to get his daughter back.

Writer/director Jessie Nelson, whose previous writing credit include The Story of Us and Stepmom, opts to flex some creative muscle with her first directing credit by shooting almost the entire film using hand-held cameras. This technique can work to give the viewer a more subjective sense of participation with the film. However, when overdone, it becomes distracting. For the most part, Nelson is able to keep this style in check, but there occasionally the jerky NYPD Blue style zooms made me more dizzy than engrossed.

In the film, Sam names his daughter Lucy Diamond after the Beatles song “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds,” and he possesses an almost Rain Man-like knowledge of Beatles trivia. Naturally, the Beatles play a prominent role in the soundtrack, but because of rights issues, the music is comprised of contemporary artists doing their own renditions of Beatles classics. The resulting soundtrack -- performed by artists such as Sheryl Crow, Ben Harper, and Sarah MacLachlan -- is definitely worth picking up if you're a fan of the Fab Four.

There are many great acting performances in this film, but the shining star is without a doubt Sean Penn. In order to ensure he was true to the character, Penn spent time with the Los Angeles-based L.A. Goal, a non-profit organization that helps adults with developmental disabilities. The result is an astounding performance that clearly shows Penn’s dedication to the art of acting. His work is honest, insightful, and compassionate, and it may very well be the film that finally gets Penn that shining gold statuette he rightly deserves.

Plenty of extras on the DVD for I Am Sam, and if you can stomach Penn's hamminess in the movie, you might enjoy the extra scenes of Sam, say, counting down the floors of a descending elevator or dancing or telling knock-knock jokes. As well, a feature commentary is unable to excuse the nauseating "verite" style filmmaking that saddles the film.

Cerita ni takde la berat sangat. santai tapi mendalam. movie ni mengisahkan seorang bapak (sam) yang terencat akal berusaha untuk membesarkan anak dia (lucy), lakonan dakota fanning yang cute gila babi. kalau dia nak kapel dengan gua, gua tak payah pikir lama. gua sambar je. tapi nak ke dia? cerita gua dengan dakota fanning ni pun boleh difilemkan kan? wakakakak.
konflik citer ni adalah apabila jabatan kebajikan masyarakat terpaksa mengambil lucy kerana tak percaya dengan kemampuan sam untuk jaga anak dia. cerita ni mengingatkan gua dengan video klip ‘animal instinct’ dari cranberries.
itu je jalan cerita dia, tapi apa yang membuatkan dia menarik? keberkesanan perwatakan sam dan lucy dalam cerita ni. terbaik dan superb! mereka akan membuatkan lu berfikir tentang kasih sayang, tentang kemanusiaan dan sebagainya. dan yang pasti akan membuatkan lu menangis.
gua? hahahaha. rabak menangis. serioushit! klu lu menangis tgk citer ni, itu maknanya lu normal. ok? normal!
cerita ni lebih menarik apabila si sam ni adalah peminat fanatik the beatles. nama lucy pun di ambil sempena lagu the beatles ‘lucy in the sky with diamond’. oleh itu cerita-cerita ni sarat dengan lagu the beatles yang tak berapa mainstream. i mean lagu-lagu yang jarang bermain di media massa.
then diselitkan juga beberapa fakta menarik tentang the beatles dalam cerita ni. antaranya jawapan sam bila ditanya adakah dia mampu menjaga lucy atau tak? dia pun jawab,
“People think..that George Harrison (Guitarist for The Beatles) couldn’t..maybe, he couldn’t write a song. But then he wrote “Here Comes the Sun” and that it was one of the best songs on “Abbey Road.”

Malangnya Gudang Noisy sedang menghadapi masalah kewangan untuk mengekalkan ruang ini sebagai ruang komuniti dan gig. Pemilik bangunan ini menetapkan tempoh selama sebulan untuk membayar sewa tunggakan sebanyak RM3000. Terdapat beberapa masalah dari segi pembayaran sebelum Pusat Komuniti Gudang Noisy mula beraktiviti. Hal ini menjadikan situasi Gudang Noisy yang baru sahaja aktif terbantut.

DONATION NEEDED!

Gudang Noisy is a community center established by a group of friends upon realizing that there is a lack of space for young people to organize alternative activities in Malaysia. Unfortunately, Gudang Noisy is currently facing some financial problems to sustain the space as a community center and a place to throw gigs. The owner of the building has given us a month to settle all the outstanding rent which is now stands at RM 3,000. We have been facing a lot problem in terms of paying rent since we started operating here. This is a huge hindrance for Gudang Noisy as it has been actively organizing things of recent.

We have organized a number of events here at the space, including radical festivals (Femme Fest, Zine Fest), vegan cafe, DIY soy milk, silk screening, tattoo workshop (tapping), really really free market, monthly free screening, gigs, amongst many other things. Besides that, we also have a mini library here which has a range of books and zines, a space to conduct meetings and discussion, as well as other things. We have also planned a slew of activities for the future including Food not Bombs, a bicycle co-op, and an infoshop (Pustaka Semesta).

We would really appreciate it if you would be able to donate at least RM 20 (or more) to help us out in this time of need. And we would also like to invite you to participate in any future events to save Gudang Noisy so that there is a space for people to continue organizing alternative events.

Sedangkan Alina kini telah menjalani kasih dengan Ray, walau Alina sering kali dikasari oleh Ray. Selain itu, Alde juga memendam rasa pada sahabat Alina yang bernama Ratih, namun Alde tidak berani mengungkapkan karena Ratih adalah anak pedagang Somay dikantin sekolah.

FOOD NOT BOMBS KL: calling for donations!

Hey there,

Food not bombs Kuala Lumpur (FNBKL) has been operating in Kuala Lumpur since 2000. Since then, we have been consistenly tabling food to the homefree, street folks as well as whoever who wants it every Sunday evening at Bukit Nanas, Kuala Lumpur.

A little bit on our politics. We believe there is enough food for everyone and there is no need for people to go hungry. People go hungry because the state and corporations are too invested in making money for themselves while they screw over other people. We believe if all those excessive amount of money which the state and corporations spend on arms and war are used instead for housing, health care, food, and all things which are being neglected by them, the world will be a much better place. (pardon my hippiness) Besides that, we also do not condone wastage of food.

We “recycle”, meaning we collect unwanted vegetables which are perfectly edible and whip them up into pretty good stuff and share it with people. We try to reduce consumption as much as we can. And yes, we only serve vegan food as it is both healthy and nonviolent.

Anyways, we are writing this email to request for donations. We are running low a few things and we hope you would be able to donate some of the things which we need and use for our weekly tabling.

rice – we cook at least 2 kg of rice every Sunday
cordial – we make drinks too
sugar – for the drink
oil – to cook the food
spices – to make our dishes delicious =)

Those are mainly the things that we really need. However, we will graciously accept whatever that you would like to donate to us. At the same time, we do not want you to rush out and go on this shopping spree at your nearest supermarket. Support your local grocer instead of some corporate supermarket. And you can also give stuff like canned food or spices which has been sitting in your kitchen cabinet for a long long time. Look in your kitchen first before going out to buy things. Instead of throwing them away, you can just donate it to us.

blackhole212 will be organising a benefit show for an anarchist gathering in medan that will happen on the 3rd to the 6th of june.
all proceeds will go to helping anti-authoritarian locals in indonesia make it to the gathering. as some of them live very far from the event venue (it will be near the mountains in medan), and cannot afford transportation due to the intense poverty there, we are doing our part to try to send some money over to help as many people as we can make it.

I'm obviously too old to really appreciate Accepted. The only people who could really appreciate this movie are college students who haven't had to get a real job and start paying for things on their own. Its message of do what you want, not what the world wants you to do, falls apart when you stop to think that the only reason any of these people are able to do what they want is because someone else is paying to allow them to do that. Wow, I've certainly grown conservative in my old age, haven't I?

Justin Long, the junior member of the Vince Vaughn/Will Ferrell led Frat Pack, stars as Bartleby Gaines, a high-school senior who's slacked his way through life so far and is subsequently rejected from every college to which he applies. Since his parents are so gung-ho for him to go to college, he goes ahead and invents the South Harmon Institute of Technology (S.H.I.T.). At first it's just an acceptance letter and a website, but when his parents want to drop him off on his first day, he's forced, with the help of his friends, to use the $10,000 that his parents have given him for tuition, to lease an old building, clean it up, make it look like a college, and hire a Dean (Lewis Black). Of course, if he'd put even a quarter of that effort into getting into college, he probably could have been accepted into Harvard.

At first all seems good, he and his friends laze around the empty "college" building, but their peace is disrupted when hundreds of students show up claiming to have been accepted into the school. It seems that Bartleby's friend, who designed the site, actually made it functional. Rather than turning the new students away, Bartleby accepts their checks and decides to run the school. He builds the curriculum around whatever the students want to learn, which ends up being Slacking, Skateboarding and Bikini Watching. It's like a 21st Century version of the Freedom School from the movie Billy Jack.

The bad guys in the movie are, of course, the Frat Boys at the real college next door. You know, the idiots who will eventually go on to do something with their lives. Naturally, they're portrayed as arrogant assholes, because, if you believe Hollywood, every Frat Boy is an ass and every Sorority Girl is a slut.

Now, don't get me wrong, if you want to do your own thing in life, that's great. Go and do your own thing. However, these kids are doing their own thing with their parent's money and it's always easier to do your own thing when someone else is footing the bill. And, on top of that, Bartleby, the movie's hero, is doing his own thing by defrauding every student who attends S.H.I.T..

I can you hear you saying, dude, it's only a movie! Why worry about the philosophy behind it? Normally I wouldn't. I'd leave that for my brother Eric and his paranoid conspiracy theories. But the truth is, the movie isn't funny enough for me to ignore the message behind it. Granted, there are a few funny bits tucked in here and there, but never really more than a chuckle.

The cast is okay. Long, in his first starring role, is likable and talented, but he needs to pick better material.

Anyone still laboring under the misapprehension that the world owes them something, will probably enjoy this movie. Anyone living in the real world, probably will not.

The students even have to clean the school after rain because lots of wild animals go in the classroom looking for shelter. Tats why the classroom becomes very dirty, wet and stinky.

Even though tis ten students have to deal wif many difficulties during their effort to receive a proper education. However, they dun give up and still hav big dreams. They studied diligently and make great history for their school. We can see tat there r lots of poor people who can't afford for school in Belitong. Ironically, one of the richest island in Indonesia who produces plenty of tins. Seriously, they'r deserve better public facility and not sum crappy leaking school.

I love tis movie because its a very touching yet inspiring movie. U can see the love , friendship and faith r all over tis movie. I think this movie is the second spectacular Indonesian movie after Ayat-ayat Cinta. Well well its a breakthrough for Indonesian movie industry. Good job, it was a great movie! ^-^

Sebuah adaptasi filem dari novel fenomena LASKAR PELANGI karya Andrea Hirata, yang mengambil setting di akhir tahun 70-an .

Laskar Pelangi berkisah tentang 10 anak kampung di Desa Gantong, Pulau Belitong, Sumatera. Mereka bersekolah di sebuah SD Muhammadiyah yang bangunannya nyaris roboh dan pada waktu malam pula menjadi kandang ternak. Sekolah itu nyaris-nyaris ditutup jika muridnya tidak sampai 10 orang.

Hari pertama pembukaan kelas baru di sekolah SD Muhammadyah menjadi sangat menegangkan bagi dua guru luar biasa, Muslimah (Cut Mini) dan Pak Harfan (Ikranagara), serta 9 orang murid yang menunggu di sekolah yang terletak di desa Gantong, Belitong.

Jika saja tak ada Harun ( Jeffry Yanuar ), seorang anak berusia 15 tahun dengan keterbelakangan mental, yang disekolahkan oleh ibunya agar tidak hanya mengejar anak ayam di rumah, tentu tidak pernah terjadi kisah ini.

Muslimah atau Bu Mus dan Pak Harfan , dua orang inilah yang meneruskan perjuangan sekolah tersebut. Mereka menginginkan anak-anak miskin berhak untuk menggapai cita-cita. Rasa menyerah, putus asa, dialami Bu Mus dan Pak Harfan karena tidak adanya minat serta biaya bagi kaum miskin untuk menyekolahkan anak-anaknya.

Maklum, bagi kalangan bawah, menyekolahkan anak berarti mengikatkan diri pada beban biaya yang harus ditanggung selama bertahun-tahun. Termasuk tertutupnya kesempatan mempekerjakan si anak secara penuh waktu demi membantu mengurangi beban hidup yang berat.

Namun di hari itu Harun, seorang murid istimewa menyelamatkan mereka. Berkat Harun, jumlah murid genap menjadi 10 orang dan sekolah batal ditutup. Lalu, sepuluh murid itu diberi nama Laskar Pelangi oleh Bu Muslimah .

Lima tahun berlalu, Bu Mus, Pak Harfan dan ke sepuluh murid dengan keunikan dan keistimewaan masing-masing, berjuang untuk terus bisa sekolah. Seperti diketahui, film ini diangkat dari novel dengan judul yang sama, Laskar Pelangi, karya Andrea Hirata. Ini adalah novel pertama Andrea. Kabarnya, novel ini adalah memoar masa kecilnya dan semua pelakunya adalah nyata.

Laskar Pelangi adalah teman-teman masa kecil Andrea saat bersekolah di sekolah kampung yang miskin di Belitong. Tapi, tidak disebutkan secara eksplisit dalam novel itu oleh Andrea Hirata bahwa itu adalah kisah nyata.

Setelah diangkat ke layar lebar, film yang disutradarai Riri Riza itu berhasil menampilkan setting akhir tahun 1970an.

Pemandangan indah dan menarik membuat film ini tak membosankan ditonton dari awal hingga akhir. Isi cerita cukup mewakili penggambaran tentang semangat mengejar cita-cita.

Film ini sukses mencampur aduk perasaan penonton. Ada bumbu serius, lucu, dan sedih.

Ada satu adegan lucu yakni ketika Ical jatuh cinta kepada A Ling. Cinta monyet itu berawal dari membeli kapur. Berikutnya, Ical rela melakukan apapun agar dapat bertemu kembali dengan A Ling, walau untuk itu dia harus membagikan kapur kepada anak-anak Laskar Pelangi.

Little Yavuz is eager to gain recognition and is determined to 'floor a cop' in order to impress his older brother. But then he meets Hary, a onetime member of the student revolts of the late sixties, and things turn out completely differently. Jacob and Pelle from Minden are hell-bent on having a boys' own adventure in the capital. They are a couple of inquisitive tourists cruising for a bruising, drifting aimlessly between sightseeing, their search for the city's best kebab shop and the protest march of the anarchic 'Black Block'. As the ruckus begins, policeman Uwe has problems of quite a different kind. He and his colleague have been assigned to calm the situation in Kreuzberg. But his wife turns unfaithful and he finds himself in the midst of a major personal crisis. Will his colleague's suggestion to seek distraction at a cop-friendly bordello help him out of his doldrums? Four lives, four different stories and predicaments. Four people who each experience their very own May Day, after which nothing will ever be the same.

Explaination: Jake Cassevetes is a world renowned shooter just back from being embedded during the U.S. invasion of Iraq. As a well-paid stringer for the networks, Jake does not buy into the currently vogue, left-wing conspiracy theory of a corporate-controlled press. But, after discovering much of his best footage in Iraq was censored by the network, Jake is growing disillusioned with his corporate masters. When he gets an assignment to shoot on the streets of the Republican National Convention protests, he meets Seven, one of the young leaders of the masked anarchist Black Bloc. Jake quickly wins the trust of the group and is allowed to shadow them as they move through the demo. Later that night, after shooting Seven with her mask down describing the Bloc's militant objectives, the videotape is mistakenly returned to the network with the rest of his footage. When he goes to retrieve the tape, he is told the network made a deal with Homeland Security to review all footage to look for potential terror suspects. Realizing the danger he has brought to Seven and the Black Bloc itself, Jake decides to use his skills and access at the network to jam the government controlled corporate media and broadcast the truth of the protests and the message of a new generation of activists.

During his investigations he discovers the horrible truth behind a simple hamburger; the reality is not like we think it is. Don discovers that the mass production system involves from the temp workers like Amber (Ashley Jonhson), to the exploitation of Mexican irregular immigrants. It is not only the meat that is crush in the mincing machine, but all our society.

Huraian: Aku baru je lepas tengok cerita ni. Cerita ni mengisahkan tentang empat orang budak-budak street punk iaitu Arok, Yoji, Mojo dan Almira. Dress memang street punk tepu! Yang penting, diorang bukan nazi. Indonesia memang takde terus nazi. Kat Malaysia je ramai nazi bodoh. Dah lari tajuk ni. Bahasa yang digunakan lain terus berbanding dengan sinetron. Mungkin bahasa jawa?

Cerita ni start dengan kejadian percubaan untuk bunuh diri oleh si Arok, sebab awek yang dia minat tu nak kahwin dengan orang lain. Tapi tak jadi. Then tanpa fikir panjang dan bermodalkan duit sejemput, diorang sepakat untuk ke Jakarta. Kira nak tolong si Arok ni meluahkan cintanya kepada Maia, awek pujaan Arok. Arok ni kira hero la dalam cerita ni. Si Yoji pulak seorang nasionalis dan banyak tahu tentang agama. Kerja pun Undertaker!

lagu-lagu soundtrack kebanyakkan adalah dari Marjinal dan lagu tema? punk in love juga dari marjinal. lagu-lagu yang ada dalam tu, otot kawat, cinta pembodohan, i wanna be, partai, dan tak peduli. Ada jugak aku perasan line up Marjinal dalam cerita ni. haha.

Cerita ni banyak mengisahkan kejadian yang berlaku dalam perjalanan dari Malang ke Jakarta.! Dari Malang, Bromo, Cepu, Pati, Semarang, Cirebon, ke Jakarta, semua tempat ini menjadi saksi tentang persahabatan mereka. Cerita ni banyak menyentuh tentang persahabatan la. aku nak cerita macam mana eh? lawak la cerita ni. Pastu ada pro dan con. There are a few ways in which International Women's Day can be approached. It can be ignored. This is what mostly happens in the mainstream media. Unlike Valentines Day and Mothers Day, cards aren't given and presents aren't bought. With no profit to be made out of it, the day is not exactly one that jumps out and grabs the attention.

International Women's Day is an expressly political day. In 1907 women sweatshop workers marched in New York and thus the first International Women's day was born. Often when women are celebrated it is because they are either cute (Valentine's Day) or caring (Mothers' Day).

There is nothing wrong with being cute or caring, but on Internationals Women's day we get to highlight those of us who are politically active, those who are fighting for a better world, those who know that there can be a better world. I don't know their names but I know I have linked arms with women at Shannon Airport protesting against the war. I've stood in front of bin lorries with women from the estate I live on. I have met women as we marched, leafleted, picketed and posters for the right to have an abortion on Irish soil.

There are many many ways in which life is difficult for women in Ireland, from our pay packets, to the fact that we get little support if we decide to have children and no support if we decide not to have children. We have to wait weeks (and sometimes months) for something as simple as the result of our smear tests. Like men we live in a country which can't provide housing, medical services, and security, basic human needs for all citizens. Yes there is a lot to be angry about and a lot to change.

Thankfully, many of us, like those women who marched in the cold 102 years ago, are not willing to make do with what we have been offered. International Women's day is a celebration of those women who make things better.
